When we fail to ask the right questions concerning the Scriptures we begin to travel down paths filled with errors rather than truth.
The most horrendous error concerns the Law/Torah of G-D.
We’re going to take a clear, intense and focused look at questions in the Old and New Testament that destroy arguments that the Law is not to be followed by asking questions about the questions. Did you follow that? We’re going to answer our questions by asking questions about the questions.
You’ll see what I mean.
First, I want to begin by quoting a very popular Scripture I see Christians post.
Psalms Ch 119:105 (Nun) Your word is a lamp for my foot and light on my path.
Now this Scripture is posted by Christians who claim they don’t have to follow the Law. I find that contradictory because verse 105 clearly points to the Law.
So let’s begin asking questions and having our questions answer our questions.
What is the ‘Word’ King David is referring to in verse 105? The Prophets had not arrived yet nor the writings of Solomon. The Book of Psalms was being written when King David wrote verse 105. What was King David reading from at the time? The New Testament was centuries away from being written. The Prophets had yet to be introduced. So what was the King David reading from?
The answer is the Torah. Psalms 119 is a love letter to G-D’s Torah.
So what is the ‘Word’ King David is referring to in verse 105? G-D’s Torah. King David was not referring to the Prophets or the Writings or the New Testament, for those writings had yet to be written. When Christians post Psalms Ch 119:105 they are posting about the Torah/Law of G-D whether they realize it not.
I never see Christians post anything from Psalms Ch 1. I wonder why?
Now we’re going to investigate a Scripture in 2 Timothy Ch 3.
2 Timothy Ch 3:15 and recalling too how from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which can give you the wisdom that leads to deliverance through trusting in Yeshua the Messiah.
Here we see Paul telling Timothy to remember that from his childhood he has known the Holy Scriptures which give you the wisdom that leads to deliverance through trusting in YESHUA the MESSIAH.
What Holy Scriptures is Paul talking about? What Holy Scriptures did Timothy learn from his childhood? The New Testament had not been written yet.
The answer to our question is the Tanack/Old Testament. The Law, Prophets and Writings.
Remember what YESHUA said in to the two men walking to Amma’us.
Luke Ch 24: 27 Then, starting with Moshe and all the prophets, he explained to them the things that can be found throughout the Tanakh concerning himself.
And again in Acts Ch 28
Acts Ch 28: 23 So they arranged a day with him and came to his quarters in large numbers. From morning until evening he explained the matter to them, giving a thorough witness about the Kingdom of God and making use of both the Torah of Moshe and the Prophets to persuade them about Yeshua.
Now let’s look at 2 Timothy Ch 3:16
16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is valuable for teaching the truth, convicting of sin, correcting faults and training in right living;
What Scripture is Paul referring to? Remember, the New Testament has not been written yet. The answer is clear: The Torah/Law, The Prophets and the Writings.
So if the Scriptures pertaining to the Law of G-D is Breathed into Life by G-D how can the Law ever become void? It can’t.
We’re going to look at verse 16 more deeply.
First what does the Scriptures breathed to life by G-D do?
The first is teaching the truth. The Law of G-D does that. Without Law there is no Truth. You have no basis to promote Truth on without Law.
The second is convicting of sin. What is sin?
1 John Ch 3:4 Everyone who keeps sinning is violating Torah - indeed, sin is violation of Torah.
The Law tells us what G-D’s Will is and how to obey HIM. When we violate the law, either through evil rebellion or unintentionally, we sin.
The third is correcting faults. The Law shows us our faults.
The fourth is training in right living. The Law shows us how to live Holy and Right for G-D, to do what is right and good in G-D’s Sight.
The Law has it’s Holy Purpose. Why did G-D punish Israel—the Northern Kingdom and the Kingdom of Judah? Because they rebelled against HIS Law. The Prophets time and time again warned Israel to return to the Law of G-D. Psalms Ch 1 begins with King David saying in verse 2:
2 Their delight is in ADONAI's Torah; on his Torah they meditate day and night.
Solomon wrote in Proverbs Ch 28:9
9 If a person will not listen to Torah, even his prayer is an abomination.
And again in Ecclesiastes Ch 12:13
13 Here is the final conclusion, now that you have heard everything: fear God, and keep his mitzvot; this is what being human is all about.
Solomon was the wisest man who ever lived on the face of the planet besides YESHUA MESSIAH.
1 Kings Ch 3:12 I am doing what you requested. I am giving you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has never been anyone like you, nor will there ever again be anyone like you.
Not one time did the wisest man who ever lived ever mention that someday the Law of G-D would be done away with. Instead he said to follow G-D’s Law.
Now we’re going to move onto Romans Ch 3
In Romans Ch 3:31 we read this:
31 Does it follow that we abolish Torah by this trusting? Heaven forbid! On the contrary, we confirm Torah.
But wait a minute, Paul seems to be implying in the Book of Galatians that the Law is done away with, right? Is Paul contradicting himself? Of course not. So what does Paul mean? Exactly what he said. Paul knows what that the New Covenant is.
So what is the New Covenant?
Hebrews Ch 8:10 "'For this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Isra'el after those days,' says ADONAI: 'I will put my Torah in their minds and write it on their hearts; I will be their God, and they will be my people.
And you’ll notice the New Covenant is made with the House of Israel, not the gentiles. This is why the gentiles are grafted in.
Paul knew the Torah had to be confirmed, otherwise the New Covenant would be violated. He would in no way teach such a thing.
Did Paul keep the Law. Yes, he did. He never once taught against the Law.
Let’s explore the question and find the answer through our question.
Acts Ch 21:20-24
20 On hearing it, they praised God; but they also said to him, "You see, brother, how many tens of thousands of believers there are among the Judeans, and they are all zealots for the Torah.
21 Now what they have been told about you is that you are teaching all the Jews living among the Goyim to apostatize from Moshe, telling them not to have a b'rit-milah for their sons and not to follow the traditions.
22 "What, then, is to be done? They will certainly hear that you have come.
23 So do what we tell you. We have four men who are under a vow.
24 Take them with you, be purified with them, and pay the expenses connected with having their heads shaved. Then everyone will know that there is nothing to these rumors which they have heard about you; but that, on the contrary, you yourself stay in line and keep the Torah.
First, we clearly read that the Elders is telling Paul to obey what they say in order to put away false rumors that he isn’t keeping Torah. Paul obeys. He doesn’t object or say no or that the Law is done away with. Acts Ch 20 alone destroys the argument that Paul taught against the Law/Torah.
Now I want to look at verse 20. Tens of thousands of believers—who are Judeans—and there are all zealots for the Law/Torah. Now, the Elders walked with YESHUA MESSIAH. If anyone would have taught the Law would become void YESHUA would have, but we see the Elders—the Elders, pay attention to that—keeping Torah/Law. And they tell Paul to do the same thing.
G-D did not send Paul to the gentiles to teach them not to obey HIS Law. The same Law applies to all.
Leviticus Ch 24:22 You are to apply the same standard of judgment to the foreigner as to the citizen, because I am ADONAI your God."
G-D does not contradict himself.
Peter answers the problems with the gentiles in Acts Ch 15
Acts 15: 21 For from the earliest times, Moshe has had in every city those who proclaim him, with his words being read in the synagogues every Shabbat."
The gentiles, if they obeyed the four things the Elders wrote to them to obey (abstain from things polluted by idols, from fornication, from what is strangled and from blood) could enter into the Synagogues on Shabbat and start learning the Torah of Moshe instead of having it thrust on them all at once. Learning takes time. That a great mercy from G-D.
Question: Why did Peter speak the words in verse 21 if the Torah/Law was done away with? YESHUA MESSIAH built the Church on Peter. Surely if anyone knew the Law/Torah was done away with it would have been Peter. G-D doesn’t make mistakes. But here we see Peter saying the Torah of Moshe is read every Shabbat. Our question answers our question through G-D’s Truth and not man made teachings.
We’re going to end with another Scripture I see Christians post that seems to be popular.
2 Timothy Ch 2:15
15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
Question: What is the “Word of Truth” Paul is referring to? The New Testament has not been completed yet.
Paul was referring to the Torah, Prophets and Writings—the Tanack/Old Testament. Without the Law/Torah of G-D you do not have the “Word of Truth” and no truth in you. By denying the Law/Torah of G-D you are denying HIS New Covenant ratified by YESHUA MESSIAH’S Precious Blood.
There are countless more Scriptures that destroy the arguments against the Law/Torah of G-D. I would beg you to start asking questions and let your questions seek out the true answers.
Gentiles Christians need to realize that they need to obey and keep the Law/Torah of G-D. They need to destroy the false teachings. Even Peter admits that some of Paul’s teachings are hard to understand, but he goes on to say:
2 Peter Ch 3: 16 Indeed, he speaks about these things in all his letters. They contain some things that are hard to understand, things which the uninstructed and unstable distort, to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures.
What are the ‘Other Scriptures’ Peter is referring to? The Law. Prophets and Writings. The ‘Uninstructed’ and ‘Unstable’ distort the Law, Prophets and Writings to their own destruction. The Writers of the New Testament base their writings completely off the Law/Torah, Prophets and Writings. Never forget that.
G-D’s HOLY WORD and Eternal WILL is the same from Genesis to Revelation. G-D does not change. It is man that tries to change G-D to their own destruction. Please, I beg you, start asking questions and let your questions lead you to G-D’s Truth instead of man made doctrines filled with false teachings.
Shalom and blessings.
